Today I had to criss cross the entire city to try and arrange my travel documents on time. I am ofcourse talking about my study in Cuba.
There has been speculation about the date on which I will be leaving for Cuba, and estimates have placed it on November 15th. Now Im feeling really shitty about quitting driving lessons, turns out I have enough time to finish, hope I can start again, and continue where I left.
Anyway, so today I was busy from 8.30 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon. It's not like I was sitting in one place, I was walking from one place to another in the scorching sun. Because in Suriname, the government has strategically placed all of their different ministries and official buildings as far away from each other as possible.

The Surinamese way.

In stead of placing all government buildings in one central place like any smart country would have done, they chose to do it Suriname style.
Aside from the fact that I had to walk half a marathon without food, the customer service was shitty. No no, im kidding, it was downright OUTRAGEOUS. For example, I walked into the office:

Me: Good Morning
Woman behind desk: *reading newspaper* ...... (no reply)
Me: *maybe she didn't hear me* GOOD MORNING
Woman: .......
Me: *fuck this - walks away* ....motherfucker (in surinamese ofcourse)
Woman: What did you say?
Me: .......

I knew I didn't need to be polite, she was just the stupid-vegetative-state-whore sitting at the dooway. I just stopped to say good morning and ask for directions, because it said : Report Here.

The Surinamese Way.

After that whole escapade, I had to go and get my Order of Good Will (a pass stating that I've never been in jail). That was a trip from here to hell and back, I had to walk 2 miles just to hear that the person in charge went to the doctor. So I had to walk back to my grandma's office, and back again, and then back to the ministry of Health where I had to get further instructions on what to do with my documents.

They are now at the translator (dutch to spanish) who is overcharging me. 15 USD per piece of paper...there were 10.

I dont know what fabled person/princess was the one with the long hair. You know, the one locked in the tower longing for her prince and whatnot. All of these so called fairytales are full of crap. if Rapunzel really did have hair that long, I can't imagine how many gardeners she would have needed to tame that amazon forest in between her legs. Because that girl was damn hairy.
Anyway, I was also wondering about other so called princesses waiting for their princes. Horny virgins I tell ya, I mean, I know girls pretty well, and these princesses were nothing more than psuedo-sluts at the time of their supposed storylines. Snowwhite had dwarf-orgies (and here I was thinking that this obsession for midgets was something modern), What the hell was Goldilocks' story? Was she the one that had sex with the bear family over a porridge covered table? And CInderella, geez, you stupid shit. Youre beautiful, use and abuse your pussy power whydontcha.
Anyway, I was lead on by the whole fairytale thingy because I found a picture of mine where my hair was at its longest, ever! I could touch the tip of my nose with it, which is pretty long in Farid's buzzcut standards. This is what happens when you don't cut your hair in three months. It grows 10cm or sumtin. Be prepared:P

Ever since Kirston moved in around the corner (well, technically it's three corners, because you take a left, then another left, then a right -- shu up :P) I have walked that stretch of road a lot of times.

Its really an interesting stretch of road, you pass by many different sights, sounds, and sadly, smells.

First you pass a large patch of grass where on weekends, you can see the cows graze. Then you smell the fresh garbage on your right, right after which you can smell the gutter. Its supposed to have running water, but like everything in Suriname, It doesnt work, garbage gets dumped in it, and it becomes a biohazard. All the bacteria and other micro-organisms produce an unfathomable smell. It looks black, oozy-green and even bubbly. Then further on, you pass by the university guesthouse, where you can get amazing views of the sunset (if youre taking a sunset-stroll). In my case yesterday, It had just finished raining, and half of the sky was coverd with dark clouds, and the other half was heavenly blue.


Anyway, then there is a cemetary, a football field, and sandy roads (roads consisting of dirt and craters), a mandir (hindu temple). Its a quiet sub-standard neighborhood. It's my neighborhood, kind of my home as well. Ive walked these streets all my life. Im going to miss the smell of fresh rain on hot asphalt.

I noticed this picture as I was emptying my camera. Apparently my friends thought it was funny, which it was :P They have the same wicked sense of humor. Laugh...

Somewhere during the course of next week, I will get my visa for Cuba. Once that is final (a lot of red tape to go through), it wont be long until I leave.
Leaving for a whole 6 years. Thats like a long time :P Returning at age 24 :| Fuck:P I'll be spending my glorydays with papa Fidel. But i'm looking at it at a broad point of view, in many ways, im making a step forward, because things cannot be much worse than they are down here in Suriname.
So I'm being positive about it. I'm probably going to be studying in Cienfuegos. A city in the southern part of Cuba, a 4 hour drive from Havana. But that is not a 100% yet, more details follow afte rmy visa. Cienfuegos has white sandy beaches, clear water, coral reefs and palmtrees. Just imagine the photo-ops.
The people are friendly, and yes, there is internet. Problem solved.

I am going to miss all of my friends. But I'm gonna have to do this, to support my vision for life in the future, I need to make money. What better way to do that than to cure sick people. Doctors get paid ridiculous sums of money down here.

It's gonna be great. Im taking my laptop with me...whether the other users here like it or not. My grandma tells me that she'll send for me every six months, that will be funny

this picture was taken last Saturday. It was to highlight my haircut. Yes, I finally cut off y hair, I mean, I could almost touch my lips with my hair. Anyhow, excuse the blonde expression, I dont think I knew what I was doing.

I think my cat ate something hallucinogenic, or she may have bitten a toad. This morning she was all stumbly and shit, and looked stoned.
Her mouth was open, tongue hanging out, meow was irregular and her pupils dilated. I think my cat is broken.

I am now studying at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS). Im doing the prelude to architecture at the FTeW (Faculty of Technological Sciences).
Our first month consists of three introductory subjects which are mandatory for all Tech students. There are 160 students at our faculty and they have been split into two groups of 90 and respectively 70 students. Im in the largest group.
We have Technology and the community, 'Foutenleer' aka error-analysis(learning how to be precise and how to factor in systematic errors) and Intellectual 'talents'

We have one month to complete them all before we start with all the good stuff. So far we only have like one class a day. So its relatively easy to cope with school after the longest vacation ever.

So far we have had two of the three subjects, and error analysis really chaps my ass. Its full of partial differentiations. :S *barf*

But I'll manage I guess

Well after my PC got nfected with hundreds of viruses, half of them trojans and spyware I was forced to work via the laptop. All of my music is on the main PC and my backups arent complete yet. So I haven't managed to listen to a lot of music lately and it is driving me insane. Maybe not THAT much, but you get the general idea, I'm dramatic. F you
I formatted the main hard drive to get rid of all that crap. And my internet was down as well. It was frustrating. But now, hopefully, everything will be great again.

It was something when some funny hacker thought it would be cool to hack into my MSN and send messages to every single person on my list. All 370 of them. It first told everyone that I had feelings for them, Then it told everyone that I wanted to have sex with them. People that I never actually liked started getting their hopes up and started talking to me after months of doing the opposite. I knew better :P And then it told everyone that I wanted to shove my **** up their **** ******. Cool huh:P It was really crazy.
